Penderyn Whisky to face competition … from England
January 5, 2006
Scotland has long held dominion over the whisky business but now more distilleries are being planned in other areas. The Scotsman reports on a new company, the Norfolk Whisky Company opening in Norfolk, England. Andrew Nelstrop is investing £1 million in the Norfolk Whisky Company, which will have a bottling plant, shop and visitor center. The distillery aims to produce 100,000 bottles of single malt per year. It can’t be marketed as Scotch but it takes its inspiration from the Highlands and both the distilling methods and building will follow Scotch practices.
